It's Not About Who's the Best
When discussing diver's watches, there are some prominent Japanese brands out there. Citizen® watch is impeccable. So is Seiko®. Even Casio®, with its G-Shock® MRG range, stands out. All have etched their names in watchmaking history and boast iconic models many of us have relished.
Today, within the segment of auxiliary watches for divers, we can also mention the Apple® Watch Ultra. It's not your typical watch, but it is made of titanium, has diver's functions, and has been successful in sales; a smartwatch suitable for dives up to 40 meters. But buddy, it has an expiration date even before you buy it!
It's not about crafting a WR500 meter or even WR5000 meter watch to be the best, as nobody will ever dive that deep. Well, there's always an exception…
Speaking of depth and underwater challenges, there's only one record-holder who reached -701 meters (2300 feet) on November 20, 1992. The professional diver, Théo Mavrostomos, aided by two teammates in the Hydra10 from Comex®, the leading French company in underwater engineering, technology, and both human and robotic interventions. Théo's story is monumental for humanity. His watches were Comex®, made by Rolex®. It was Comex® that brought greater credibility to Rolex®, which always provided watches to Comex® members. But in this story, the brands and power agreements aren't the main focus; it's about the people who write it, the heroes, the brave and bold who challenge the status quo, much like our OX® FROG300 is likely to do.
IT'S NOT ABOUT WHICH IS THE BEST, IT'S ABOUT WHAT YOU GET
The range of possibilities in mechanical dive watchmaking is vast, incredibly so. In titanium, a bit less. But it's also true that, today, only with the OX® FROG300 will you access the next generation of diver's watches.
At OX®, we're trailblazers, disruptors, and we craft watches as indestructible as they come, to capture your experiences, your milestones or feats, and to stand the test of time, becoming a legacy for your loved ones. And while we hope our diver's watch never has to play a role in saving your life, it's designed to do just that if necessary.
MAKE YOUR CHOICE
Our vision of instrument watches, particularly with the OX OCEANIX® FROG300 Diver's, is a different and disruptive perspective. It's the result of decades and hundreds of tested watches, as well as the shared experiences with countless enthusiasts, collectors, and watch lovers. It all comes together in a highly comfortable and innovative automatic watch that breaks with the conventional norms of mechanical watchmakingᵃ. It harnesses the strength of the best materials and a next-generation construction to withstand the passage of time like few others. It's evident that the FROG300 is in a league of its own, both aesthetically and in its unique architecture, featuring advanced functions like the 'Dive Time' crown or the ID+SYS™. They might very well be the pioneers of the new generation of dive watches.
The choice is yours to steer clear of the conventional, stereotypes, and fashion or status labels to experience firsthand the pleasure of enjoying one of them. But hurry, because they are all limited edition!
Our most sincere advice: don't settle for a watch at 55% or 75% perfection; be proactive and dare to enjoy the Diver's watch at 99% perfection. Aside from special and limited editions, OX OCEANIX® watches have a production limited to 500 units per year, aligning with Comex® in rarity and being exclusively manufactured for divers and company staff.
You might find that -701 meters as surprising as we did. For a deeper dive into this, check out THEO's official website here.
P.S. For the proud owners of our FROG300: we're experiencing a slight delay in the functional sample units, but the April 2024 delivery date remains unchanged! Cheers!
a We break the mold by fusing the beauty of mechanical watchmaking with modern technology like our ID+SYS™, featuring disruptive designs and top-of-the-line materials, all while using high-quality, reliable movements made in Japan.
